PURPOSE:To enhance developability and to improve intrinsic sensitivity and color intensifying sensitivity without deteriorating granular characteristics by incorporating specific silver halide particles into the titled material. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide (AgX) particles which are the AgX particles constituted of >=2 layers having waving particle surfaces and different silver iodide contents and in which the average silver iodide content of the particles is 2-20mol.% and the average silver iodide content thereof is higher than the silver iodide content of the outside edge phase of the particles are incorporated into this material. The high iodine content phase in the central part of the planar AgX emulsion which has, for example, >=5 grain size/particle thickness and in which the silver iodide exists locally in the central part is preferably <=80% of the entire volume of the particles and the silver iodide content in the central part is preferably 5-40mol.%. The low iodine content phase (peripheral part) surrounding the high iodine content phase in the central part consists preferably of the silver iodobromide in which the content of the silver iodide is 0-10mol.%. The developability is improved and both the intrinsic sensitivity and color intensifying sensitivity are enhanced without deteriorating the granular characteristics by using such AgX particles. |
