976,331. Resilient mountings. RHEINMETALL G.m.b.H. Jan. 11, 1963 [Jan. 13, 1962], No. 1438/63. Heading F2S. In a resilient mounting comprising a resilient sleeve 4 made e.g. of rubber located between an inner bush 3 and a concentric outer support mounting 2 an annular lining 5 of plastics material is injected under high pressure between the sleeve 4 and either the support 2 or the bush 3. The plastics lining 5 is introduced into the mounting while it is located in a two-part tool 6, 61 the plastics material, e.g. polystrene, being injected through a nozzle 10 and a bore 9 under a pressure e.g. of 7,111-21,335 p.s.i. and recesses 11 in the tool allowing for lateral expansion of the compressed sleeve 4. In a modification, Fig. 3, a resilient sleeve 12 is pressed into a part spherical inner surface 14 of a support mounting 15 by a plastics lining 13 which is introduced into the mounting either through an orifice 16 using a tool 6, 6<SP>1</SP> or through an annular injector nozzle, not shown, located level with the outer surface of the bush 3, a single piece tool being used. A universal joint is shown, in Fig. 4, and an arrangement with a stirrup-shaped mounting is also described. |
