PURPOSE:To permit a user to keep the secret of a transmission original and to transmit it with linear density corresponding to an estimate by displaying utility rates by respective linear density, converting accumulated picture information into picture information with designated linear density and executing a transmission processing when the user designates the objective linear density and pays the prescribed rate. CONSTITUTION:The communication rate by respective linear density are obtained by the data quantity of picture information of the transmission original, an outgoing destination and a data transmission speed before transmission. A display control part 18 adds the communication rate and the equipment utility rate and displays in a display part 19 a transmission service utility rate which is requested to the user. If the user designates the objective linear density and pays the prescribed rate, the prescribed processing is executed. Since the user operate transmission by himself, it is unnecessary to show the transmission original to a clerk and the like and the secret of a document and the like can be kept. Furthermore, the rates can be confirmed by linear density beforehand and transmission can be executed with the objective linear density after the content of the document and the estimate are considered.
