<p>A ventilating apparatus for the interior of a vehicle comprises a plurality of adjacent blowers 20, 30, (120, 130, 220, 230, 320, 330) (Figs 2 to 4). A drive motor 11, (111, 211, 311) common to all the blowers is coupled to the individual impellers of the blowers by a belt drive 12 (112, 212, 312). The drive motor which is common to all of them can be accommodated with space economy and in regions which are not otherwise useful. Various alternative positional relationships between the blowers and drive motor are disclosed (Figs 2 to 4) and moveable couplings (e.g. solenoid operated) may be provided to enable drive to a blower to be selectively uncoupled. Different size impellers or drive pulleys may be employed to achieve different blower capacities and a belt tensioning device (216, 217) (Fig 3) may be employed. <IMAGE></p> |
