Variable-opacity attenuator for camera objective, intended to be mounted in the plane of the diaphragm of the objective 4-9 of an optical system giving a focused image of an object situated in front of this objective, characterised in that it comprises a thin film 16 mounted on a support 13 driven in rotation about an axis 17 which is offset from that 7 of the objective, this film having an opacity which varies along a transverse direction, so that the relative orientation of the support about its axis brings onto the optical axis of the objective a portion of the thin film having an opacity which is modified with this rotation.
