The field of the invention is that of articulated panels for stopping an opening cut in a fixed wall. The objective is to provide a device for opening the articulated panel, the device being easy to manoeuvre, and to stabilise in any position. This objective is reached with the aid of a mechanism combining the action of a movable scissor stay 8, 9, 19 for distancing the panel 3, and of gearing made up of a cogged wheel 6 and of a helical manoeuvring screw 5. The invention finds a preferred application for the partially opened manoeuvreing of sunroofs of motor vehicles. <IMAGE>
