The invention relates to a writing projector (plotting projector) having a planar light source for transmitted light projection (transmitted illumination projection) and consists of a handy case in which all structural components and elements are accommodated. In the bottom of the case there is the illuminating device consisting of fluorescent lamps and concave mirrors which are designed with respect to the planar light source, and a Fresnel lens which can be pivoted out is arranged with a writing board at a short distance above the planar light source. In the lid of the case, the imaging system is accommodated with the imaging optics and a pivotable path-folding mirror (reflecting mirror) in a collapsed state. When the lid of the case is opened in the operating position and locked in a retaining device, this imaging system is pivoted out of the lid of the case, is brought into the beam path, and is secured by a retaining device in this working position. Via the Fresnel lens, the planar light source provides an effectively transilluminated master film in conjunction with low energy consumption.
