In a torsion piston ring, it is proposed to prevent or reduce the wear occurring especially on the lower ring flanks in the area of the ring joint ends. This is achieved in that the torsion piston ring is plastically deformed by twisting in the area of the ring joint ends so that the upper and lower ring flank run upwardly inclined from the inside outwards, the angle of inclination being less than 2 degrees.
