PURPOSE:To shorten a retrieval time, by providing a housing part and a reproducing device confrontally with each other, and performing the parallel displacement of both housing part and the reproducing device in an opposite direction to each other. CONSTITUTION:When a recording body placed at a third stage from top is retrieved, motors 15 and 21 are rotated in either a forward or a backward direction by a position detecting means 26 by depressing a selection switch (not shown in figure), and the housing part 9 and a mechanical 20 are moved upward and downward. The housing part 9 and the mechanical base 20 moves in directions opposite to each other stop at a position where the light receiving part 29 of a photosensor at a selected third stage is aligned with the light emitting part 27 of the mechanical base 20. Next, a pinion 31 fixed on a motor 30 is rotated leftward, and an act lever 32 engaging with the pinion 31 is displaced in parallel in a left direction. The left tip part of the act lever 32 is abutted with the arm 33 of a tray 10, which rotates the whole of the tray 10 in a right direction simultaneously with the parallel displacement centering a rotational center 12, then brings the tray on the reproducing device 25. Simultaneously, the mechanical base 20 is raised by a signal from a microswitch 34, and the recording body 1 is positioned at a position possible to be rotated.
