Heat exchanger for combination with a burner hood of a contact reactor

In a heat exchanger that is downstream from the burner hood of a contact reactor, surface radiators or spray coolers located externally, i.e. outside the vessel, are usually used to regulate the temperature of the superheated steam supplied to the consumer. A considerable amount of piping and additional vessel penetrations are necessary to connect the superheating surface to the externally located cooler. In the vessel (1), a pipe (10) running essentially radially, and connected to the corresponding header (9; 9a) of the superheating surface, is connected downstream from the superheating surface (6; 6a). An injection nozzle running through the wall of the vessel and through the header protrudes into one of the pipe's ends (10a). Due to this arrangement, the heat exchanger is especially suitable for a thin-film contact reactor for burning ammonia. <IMAGE>
