Electric oven 1 for cooking food, comprising a cooking chamber 2 heated by an electrical resistance element 4 and a vessel 6 containing water and forming an evaporation vessel placed in contact with the electrical resistance element 4. The evaporation vessel 6 is shaped so as to rest by means of its walls on strands 4a, 4b of the resistance element 4 and the oven comprises a reservoir 7 for keeping a substantially constant water level in the region of the vessel 6 as regards heat exchange with the resistance element 4.
