The invention relates to a ferrimagnetic monomode two-dimensional waveguide as well as to its method of manufacture. The waveguide consists of a rectilinear bar 7 having a substantially square cross-section made with an yttrium-iron garnet, which may or may not be substituted with rare earths, and of a homogeneous medium composed of a substrate 9 and of a layer 10 deposited by epitaxy, and consisting of a gadolinium-gallium garnet. The invention is applicable, in particular, to the production of integrated-optic isolators. <IMAGE>
