PURPOSE:To eliminate the necessity of frequently repeated judgement about the existence or non-existence of ignition timing correction, and stabilize the rotational speed of an engine by applying hysteresis characteristics to a judged rotational speed used for correcting ignition timing in the idling operation of the engine. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 8 determines a fuel injection amount on the basis of the rotational speed of an engine 1 detected by an optical slit 1 in a distributor 9 and an intake air quantity detected by an air flow sensor 3 in an intake pipe 4. Also, the microcomputer 8 controls an ignitor 17, thereby actuating an ignition plug 16 via the distributor 9. In this case, the microcomputer 8 makes a comparison between the detected engine speed and a judged rotational speed having hysteresis characteristics. As a result, only when the engine 1 is giving an idling operation, ignition timing is corrected depending upon a deviation between the actual rotational speed of the engine 1 and a target rotational speed.
