In order to obtain neat, tight and heavy-duty joints in the butt welding of thin plates or plastic panels, their flanks to be welded together are profiled in a preparatory operation in such a way that not only is stabilisation effected within a plane when joining together: a weld prepared in this way provides an additional positive-locking joint, and the durability of the joint obtained cannot be impaired by slight wandering of the beam of welding energy, since the beam of welding energy always strikes at least profiled elements of both panels to be joined even in the event of deviations. <IMAGE> |
