The invention relates to a composite film (multilayer film), in particular a metallised, gas- and water vapour-impermeable composite film printed by counterprinting for packaging, in particular foodstuffs packaging. The feature of the invention is the sequence of the composite of a transparent polyester film printed on the composite side with printing inks based on soluble metal-complex dyes, an aluminium film vapour-deposited thereon in a high vacuum, and a polyolefin film laminated onto the aluminium film by means of an adhesive. The complex lacquering of the packaging material which was conventional hitherto thus becomes superfluous.
