PURPOSE:To obtain a roller which has high pressure resistance, small foreign matter sticking, and excellent lubricity by incorporating a lubricious material in an organic layer. CONSTITUTION:The organic layer 4a is formed by laying a doughnut-shaped member 4 on a core material 1 axially. This doughnut-shaped member 4 is formed in a doughnut shape by impregnating a textile fabric of amide fiber which is an organic material with dissolved metal soap and further using a mold. The doughnut member 4 is compressed from both sides of the core material 1 and after the surface hardness is increased to a set value, the core material 1 is rotated to polish the outer peripheral surface of the doughnut member 4, thereby finishing the roller in a cylindrical shape without any eccentricity. The metal soap with which the doughnut member 4 is impregnated is dissolved with heat at the time of polishing to form a thin lubricious film in mum units on the outer peripheral surface of the doughnut member 4. Consequently, the pressure resistance of the roller is improved and the surface of the roller is given excellent lubricity.
