PURPOSE:To obtain a better solidified resin, by adding a thermosetting resin, a polymerization initiator, and organic metal salt and a polymerization inhibitor to a radioactive waste containing nitrite to prevent the blocking of polymerization of the thermosetting resin otherwise caused by nitrite. CONSTITUTION:A radioactive waste is produced by drying and powdering a radioactive waste liquor generated from a nuclear power plant or the like and for example, mainly composed of sodium sulfide or an ion exchange resin. A thermosetting resin herein used employs a resin such as insaturated polyester resin having insaturated polyester dissolved in a polymerizing monomer and is hardened by radical polymerization at a normal temperature. A polymerization initiator, a polymerization promotor, alkali metal or the like as organic metal salt are added to these radioactive waste and thermosetting resin at the rate of about 0.5-2wt.% about 0.006-0.1wt.% in terms of amount of metal and about 0.01-1wt.% in terms of amount of metal, respectively. Thus, even when nitrite is mixed, a solid can be obtained hard as enough as that produced when it is not.
