PURPOSE:To increase the degree of freedom of installing a valve in a diaphragm type actuator for adjusting the opening of a throttle valve by providing plural atmospheric pressure introducing valves for idling up opposite to a diaphragm in a negative pressure chamber. CONSTITUTION:A diaphragm 1 is held between upper and lower casings 11, 12 and a rod 2 installed in the center part of the diaphragm 1 via plates 13a, 13b is linked to a throttle valve 9, which is opened/closed in accordance with the negative pressure in a negative pressure chamber 3. In such an actuator, an atmospheric pressure introducing valve 5a, 5b and a valve 4 for generating a dashpot effect are installed on the upper casing 11. In the atmospheric pressure introducing valves 5a, 5b, valve operating members 18a, 18b each having one end 6a, 6b opposite to the diaphragm 1 leaving a space 7a, 7b, are energized in a closing direction by springs 20a, 20b respectively. And, the ports 10a, 10b of the valves 5a, 5b are connected to electromagnetic selector valves 16a, 16b, respectively.
