PURPOSE:To heat foodstuff with steam by introducing steam heated and generated in a steam generating container through the bottom member of a container for accommodating the foodstuffs. CONSTITUTION:A steamer is composed of a flat-pan-shaped steam generating container 12 and a container 14 for accommodating foodstuffs which is removably placed on the container 12 with an attaching means. The main body 16 of the container 14 is made of materials through which microwaves can penetrate and at the bottom member 20 of the body 16 steam passage ports 22 for receiving steam generated in the container 12 are formed and is made to accommodate the foodstuffs F. A cover 18 is made of materials through which microwaves can penetrate and closes the upper opening of the body 16. When the foodstuffs are cooked by using this steamer, the foodstuffs are subjected to the direct heating by the microwaves of a microwave oven and indirect heating by the steam.
