PURPOSE:To reduce the deviated quantity of a head due to thermal off track at the time of following up a position and to shorten an access time, by forming offset data in which the mean value of the track deviated quantity of each data head goes to zero. CONSTITUTION:A sector servo signal read out from each data head 12 is sent to a peak holding circuit 22, and the peaks of the sector servo signals A and B are held. A CPU 24 generates a position signal i which a result (A-B)=0 can be obtained when the head 12 is positioned in the center of a track. In such a case, the CPU24 compares the position signal of a servo head 13 with that of each head 12, and detects the deviated quantity C of the head 12 in which the position of the head 13 is set as reference, and the addition of the maximum and the minimum values of the quantity C is performed, and the offset data in which the result of the addition goes to zero is formed, and it is set to a D/A converter 33.
