In order to create a transfer gear box for all-wheel drive motor vehicles, which within wide limits permits an arbitrary torque distribution to the axles or wheels and also makes a rigid drive connection possible, a transmission unit (3, 4) comprising a fluid friction clutch (5) and a clutch (6) shiftable under load and bypassing the former, is assigned to each driving axle (1, 2). In the case of rigidly connected driving axles (1, 2), such a transmission unit (3a, 4a) is provided for each wheel.
