The machine for harvesting and bunching vegetables is autonomous. It comprises, mounted on a chassis 1 of the machine: - cutting means 2 located at a front end of the machine, for cutting the vegetables V above the ground, - means, 3, 4, 5, 6 for gathering together the cut vegetables V and conveying them into a corridor 7 whose width at its downstream end 74 is substantially equal to the diameter of the bunch B which it is desired to produce, - means 8, 9 for separating the vegetables V into successive bunches B, - means 10, 11 for successively passing a tie 110 around each bunch B making it possible to tie the said bunch, - means 12 for twisting the tied of each bunch B and cutting it and, - means for discharging the tied bunches B, - these means 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 12 being driven from at least one motor 14 mounted on the chassis 1 of the machine. Use particularly for harvesting and bunching watercress. <IMAGE>
