PURPOSE:To accurately read the recording data of an optical card, by finding the inclination angle of a guide line by a line sensor, and correcting inclination by turning and controlling the optical card or the line sensor. CONSTITUTION:A beam of light is projected on the optical card 1 from first and second light sources 9 and 10, and reflected light are image-formed on first and second line sensors 11 and 12 set in parallel with each other. And the peak positions of the guide line of the optical card 1 by the sensors 11 and 12 are compared based on data from the sensors 11 and 12, then, the inclination angle between the sensor 11 and the guide line can be found. When the inclination angle is not within a prescribed range, the optical card or the sensor 11 or 12 is turned and controlled so as to align the peak positions of the guide line by the sensors 11 and 12. In such a way, it is possible to always place the lines sensors and a data track in parallel, and to perform the read of a data pattern precisely.
