摘要 |
PURPOSE:To produce a side-chain-type polymer liquid crystal having excellent thermal stability, etc., by subjecting a siloxane polymer and a compound giving side chain component to hydrosilylation reaction for a specific time and treating time reaction product with an aliphatic compound having terminal C=C group. CONSTITUTION:(A) A silixane polymer having H bonded to Si and (B) an aromatic compound derivative giving a side-chain component are subjected to hydrosilylation reaction in an organic solvent (e.g. benzene or toluene) in the presence of (C) 0.001-5wt.% (based on the component A) of a group VIII transition metal compound catalyst (preferably a platinum compound) until a prescribed amount of the side-chain component is added to the component A. The objective side chain-type polymer liquid crystal can be produced by adding and reacting (D) >=10 equivalent (based on the component C) of an aliphatic compound having terminal C=C group (preferably 2-22C alpha-olefin) to the above reaction mixture liquid or to a solution produced by separating the produced side-chain-type polymer liquid crystal from the reaction mixture liquid and dissolving the liquid crystal in an organic solvent.
