An appliance for chemothermal energy generation using a fuel rope containing a proportion of solids consists of a reservoir, a delivery system and a reaction chamber. The delivery route of the fuel rope is surrounded by a pressure-tight jacket which is connected to the reservoir and to the reaction chamber, and to which, together with the reservoir, a protective gas (inert gas) is admitted whose pressure is equal to or higher than the operating pressure prevailing in the reaction chamber. A separation unit (dividing unit) which is part of the delivery system, separates (divides) the fuel rope into individual sections which are then introduced into the reaction chamber.
