PURPOSE:To increase an efficiency by alternately arranging spiral conveyors and straight conveyors, operating only the spiral conveyors when the making of a pipe to be inspected is detected and detecting a flaw by a ultrasonic flaw detecting means. CONSTITUTION:Conveyor means 20 is constituted by alternately arranged spiral conveyors m1, m2... and straight conveyors n1, n2... and controlled by a conveyance control means 25. A manipulator is provided with probes 28 and 29 connected to a ultrasonic flaw detector 30 and let follow up the probes 28 and 29 under the control of a manipulator controller 33. When a marking applied to a pipe 1 to be inspected is detected by a marking detector 34 by conducting a rough flaw detection in advance, a main controller 35 operates only the conveyors m1 and the like and operates the controller 33 and the flaw detector 30. The echoes of ultrasonic waves emitted from the probes 28 and 29 are received to be fed to an alarm unit 31 and, when the amplitude levels of the echoes are outside an allowable range, an alarm is emitted from the alarm unit 31. |
