PURPOSE:To eliminate a print shift and to improve picture quality by providing a write timing adjusting means which varies and sets the time from the start of the writing of a 1st latent image to the transmission of a write permission signal of a 2nd latent image according to the scanning position of a beam. CONSTITUTION:The write timing adjusting means (a) varies and sets the time of the start of the writing of the 1st latent image to the transmission of the write permission signal of the 2nd latent image according to the scanning positions of the 1st and 2nd beams. This write timing adjusting means (a) consists of a presetting means (b) which sets previously a counted value corresponding to the time and a counting means (c) which starts counting up in synchronism with a synchronizing signal indicating the start of the writing of the 1st latent image and outputs the write permission signal of the 2nd latent image when the counted value reaches a counted value set by the presetting means (b). A driving control means (d) varies and sets the relative moving speed of a recording medium (h) according to the scanning positions of the 1st and 2nd beams. Consequently, the print shift is eliminated and the picture quality is improved.
