PURPOSE:To facilitate the generation of a source program by converting a source program of a two-byte code system which is read out of a file into a source program of a one-type code system, and then converting it into an object module and also generating a list. CONSTITUTION:A source program read out of the EBCDIC file 1 is interpreted by an assembler 3 and converted into an object module 7, and the list 5 is generated according to the source program read out of the file 1. A source program read out of a JET file 2, on the other hand, is converted by a converter 4 into EBCDIC codes, whose program is interpreted by the assembler 3 and converted into the object module 7, thereby generating the list 6 according to the source program read out of the file 2.
