PURPOSE:To obtain high information transfer speed with low power of recording laser light by superposing recording or erasing laser light onto the laser light higher than reproducing laser light. CONSTITUTION:When the recorded information of a magneto-optical disk is rewritten, a magneto-optical medium is heated up to a Curie point or so by a recording laser pulse. Then three laser light levels are applied so that a relationship PW>PB>PR is satisfied among the recording laser power PW, the bias laser power PB and the reproducing laser power PR respectively. Thus it is possible to eliminate the influence of magnetization caused around a pit that prevents the inversion of magnetization when the information is recorded onto the magneto-optical disk and to reduce the power of the recording laser light. Then the information can be recorded at a high information transfer speed with use of the recording laser light of low power. |
