PURPOSE:To perform parallel operation processing by respective systems by dividing the functions of an automatic drawing input system by a system dedicated to topographic map input and a system dedicated to track figure input, and thus constituting the system. CONSTITUTION:A topographic map AM is read in by an image reader 3A, code-compressed by a processor 4A, and stored in a file. This file is used to recognize the topographic map by a central processor 1A, a character recognition device 5A, and an image processor 4A. Then image data is converted into hierarchic vector data on roads, houses, etc., and the data are stored on a disk device 2. Then the topographic recognition result file is stored on a disk device 13A on a work station side. Further, a track figure LM is also inputted by a reader 3L similarly to the topographic map input and symbol recognition and track figure recognition results are stored in the file.
