PURPOSE:To monitor whether or not an error check circuit operates normally with simple circuit constitution by diagnosing the error check circuit as an abnormal circuit unless one-bit or two-bit error is detected when the one-bit or two-bit error is added. CONSTITUTION:When a correct check code is set in a diagnostic register 6 and it is judged that the diagnostic register 6 reads it without any error, the one-bit wrong check code is set in the diagnostic register 6 intentionally and the diagnostic data is read out of the error check circuit 7. When the diagnostic register 6 detects the the one-bit error, the two-bit wrong check code is set in the diagnostic register 6 intentionally; when the two-bit error is detected, it is judged that the error check circuit 7 is normal. Consequently the fault, etc., of the error check circuit 7 is easily diagnosed.
