PURPOSE:To freely select analog and digital terminal equipments and to simplify a cable and a device by connecting a terminal branching device to a time division switchboard by the cable for optical communication and connecting analog and digital terminal equipments to the terminal branching device. CONSTITUTION:A time-division switchboard 1 is provided with a speaking current circuit 2 and an optical-digital converter 3, and a cable 4 for optical communication is connected to the optical-digital converter 3 to constitute a line. A mast type terminal branching device 7 for optical communication is connected to the terminal of the cable 4 for optical communication, and respective terminal equipments, namely, telephone sets 5 of analog terminal equipments and facsimiles 6 of digital terminal equipments are connected to this device 7. The terminal branching device 7 branched to digital and analog terminal equipments in this manner is provided. Thus, analog and digital terminal equipments are freely selected, and problems of the number of terminals and the distance between the terminal and a master station are resolved, and the number of line cables is reduced and the device is simplified.
