<p>An examination apparatus (20) measures oxygenation in a body using near infrared light transmission spectrophotometry. The apparatus (20) includes light source means (LD1-LD4, 55), an illumination-side fixture (1), a detection-side fixture (2), a transmitted light detection device (54), and a computer system (56) which controls the apparatus (20) and calculates the oxygenation parameters. The illumination-side fixture (1) and a detection-side fixture (2) include prisms (5, 6, 15, 16) or reflecting surfaces (8a, 9a) for turning the light paths through prescribed angles. The fixtures may be equipped with light-emitting diodes (33, 35 Figure 11) to indicate that the examination apparatus (20) is in its operating condition.</p> |
