PURPOSE:To enable the replacement of a lamp prior to generation of a phenomenon that a mounting position is shifted or a machine is stopped due to defective recognition in a visual recognition part upon the lowering of illumination, by providing this device which controls illumination of light in an illumination part in order to recognize this light in a component recognition part and a pattern recognition part. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with the following parts: a supply means 1 for supplying electronic components, a carrier part capable of holding a printed substrate 5 so as to perform flat plane movement, a first recognition means 3 for recognizing shapes of the electronic components supplied from the supply means 1, and a second recognition means 6 for recognizing the mounting surface of the printed substrate 5. Further, a device for controlling illumination of light in an illumination part 8 or the like is provided in order to recognize this light by the first recognition means 3 and the second recognition means 6. For example, a mounting head 2 is moved on the printed substrate 5 and it recognizes a recognition mark to judge how much the printed substrate 5 is shifted and fixed from a position where the substrate 5 is essentially disposed. At that time, illumination is measured in an illumination measuring part 7. If this measured illumination is lowered below a preset value, a message for alarming a drop in light quantity of a substrate recognition lamp is outputted.
