PURPOSE:To facilitate real-time editing processing of data of large capacity by providing a 1st memory part which stores a real data file produced on an editing process part and a 2nd memory part which stores a control file also produced on the editing process part. CONSTITUTION:The data of large capacity such as image data, music signal data, etc., are stored in an inexpensive memory medium 5 like a magnetic tape, etc., in the form of a real data file. While a control file where only the contents of the real data file are described is stored in a fast memory medium 6. The editing process history is written in the control file and the real data file is read out of the medium 5 of low speed and large capacity after a series of editing jobs are ended. The real data file is processed based on said process history written in the control file. Thus many large capacity data files can be edited easily at a high speed and in an apparent real time.
