PURPOSE:To minimize the variance of a measurement by eliminating the influence of the air and moisture, and also, to measure the water content in a short time by containing a sample in a heating chamber of an electronic range, and heating it in a state that it has been shielded from the air. CONSTITUTION:Sampled molding sand S of 50g is contained in a pan 10, stored in a heating chamber 4 of an electronic range 1, and heated for a prescribed time by operating a timer 9. A placing table 5 on which the pan 10 for containing the molding sand S being a sample is placed is interlocked with a measuring instrument 7. When a prescribed time which has been set by the timer 9 elapses, the measuring instrument substracts the weight of the molding sand which has become light due to evaporation of moisture, from weight of the molding sand which has contained moisture, and displays a converted value as a water content on a display window 11.
