PURPOSE:To machine process parts consecutively by performing a prescribed machining on the respective cutting sides of a work piece which is held by headstocks after moving a second headstock toward a first headstock a prescribed distance before cutting off the work piece and then move back the second headstock after cutting off the work piece. CONSTITUTION:Before cutting off a bar work piece 20, or the like, held by a first headstock 3, a second headstock 5 is to be moved forward a prescribed distance to hold the work piece, the chuck 36 of the headstock 3 is to be once released holding the work pice, the headstock 5 is to be moved back to draw out the work piece 20, the first headstock 3 to hold the work pice 20 again, both headstocks 3, 5 rotated synchronously, and out off a parts 20a from the work piece 20 with a tool 16 on a tool rack 13. Then, after retreating the headstock 5 a prescribed distance, prescribed machining is to be performed on the work piece 20 and the parts 20a with the tool 16 held by turret heads 13a, 15a on the tool racks 13, 15, respectively. Parts of a prescribed shape can be manufactured consecutively in such manner.
