PURPOSE:To obtain the titled emulsion having the high speed development and the covering power by incorporating >=20wt.% specified crystalline grains in the total silver halide. CONSTITUTION:The crystalline grains is composed from a long cylindrical or a needle crystalline grains which is surrounded with a crystalline surface mainly composed of (100) surface, and satisfies the two interrelationship shown by the formula 1<=(m)<=7, and (n)>=7m, when the ratio of the length of edges crossing said surfaces is determined to 1:m:n from a small side to a long side. The crystalline grains joining vertically or in parallel said crystalline grains and/or at least two or more of said crystalline grains with each other, is incorporated in the total silver halide in an amount of >=20wt.% based on the total silver halide. The titled material having the high speed development and the high covering power is obtd. by using the emulsion contg. many silver halide particles for the titled material.
