PURPOSE:To facilitate handling and to improve printability by subjecting the surface of a plate having a base essentially consisting of Al to a surface roughening treatment, then to a desmut treatment so as to attain >=60% reflectivity. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductive layer is formed on the base by using a dissolution type photoconductive material as a photoconductive material and the photoconductor layer of the non-image part is removed by a soln. essentially consisting of an alkaline material and/or alcohols after formation of a toner image, by which the original plate for printing is prepd. The surface of this original plate, the base of which consists essentially of Al, is subjected to the surface roughening treatment, following which the surface is subjected to the desmut treatment to attain >=60% reflectivity. A dispersion operation is not needed and the handling is easier as compared to a pigment system for which the photoconductive material of the dissolution type is used. Furthermore, the removability of the photoconductive layer is improved, by which the original plate for electrophotographic printing having the improved printability is obtd.
