PURPOSE:To save the area of a text buffer by providing the text buffer which controls a text inputted from an input text file in the format where a selection flag is added to the text and controlling the text in invariably one text buffer. CONSTITUTION:A text input means 2 is provided with the text buffer 7 where the text inputted from the input text file 6 is given the selection flag and when a user indicates the selection of the text, a text selecting means 3 sets the selection flag of the text buffer 7 so as to indicate the selected text and indicates that a selection text mode is entered in text selection information. Then a text retrieving means retrieves only the text with the selection flag in the text buffer 7 when the user indicates text alteration. A text selection resetting means 4 indicates that the text selection mode is not set in the text selection information. Consequently, the processing time is shortened.
