PURPOSE:To prevent lowering of machining accuracy due to thermal affections so as to enhance the machining efficiency by providing an electric discharge power source in cooling medium circulating through a heat radiating section spaced away from a column so that the length of lead wires led to an electrode and a workpiece may be reduced. CONSTITUTION:An electric discharge power source 7 has a power source circuit 7-1 dipped in insulative coolant 7-2. Of output lead wires, one 8-3 is connected to a workpiece. Heat generated from the power circuit 7-1 is transmitted to the insulative coolant 7-2 which produces therein air bubbles 13 and so forth so as to be in part evaporated when it receives the heat. The vapor of the insulative coolant 7-2 is carried through a coolant circulating pipe 6 in the direction of the arrow 17 and then is led into a heat-exchanger 4 in which the coolant is cooled so as to be turned into liquid drops 14. Then, it is transferred to the pipe 6 in the direction of the arrow 15, and is returned into the original insulative coolant liquid 7-2 Accordingly, even though the power source circuit 7-1 approaches the column or a head, it is possible to prevent the accuracy of machining from being lowered.
