PURPOSE:To enable recording of high S/N ratio without deteriorating recording sensitivity by laminating a recording layer, a protective layer for absorbing light transmitted through a recording layer, and a plate for suppressing mechanical deformation of the recording layer on a light transmitting layer. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer 2 made of Sb2Se3 is vapor-deposited on a light transmitting substrate 1 of PMMA or the like and a light absorption and reflection layer 3 made of Bi2Te3 or the like is formed on the layer 2. On the layer 3, a layer 4 of a high melting metal, such as In2Te3, Ni or Ni-Cr alloy, higher in m.p. than the material of the layer 3 by 100 deg.C is formed by sputtering or the like to suppress mechanical deformation of the layer 2. On the layer 4, a protective layer 5 is formed by vapor-depositing a phthalocyanine type material having absorption in the wavelength region of semiconductor laser beams or otherwise. On the layer 5, a transparent plate 11 same in material as the substrate 1 is formed by the medium of an adhesive 8 and recording is carried out by irradiating laser beams from the side of the substrate 1 and causing variation of reflectance and transmittance in the layer 2. A recording medium superior in durability is thus obtained. |
