PURPOSE:To improve weatherability while maintaining excellent magnetic characteristics by incorporating a silane compd. into a magnetic recording medium contg. ferromagnetic chromium dioxide powder. CONSTITUTION:The silane compd. is incorporated into the magnetic recording medium contg. the ferromagnetic chromium dioxide powder. A method of mixing the silane compd., solvent and chromium dioxide powder, heating this mixture under a reduced pressure, continuing this heating for the specified period, then cooling the mixture and taking out the same as powder is adopted as a method for sticking said compd. Advantage is thereby taken of the high-performance magnetic characteristics of the magnetic chromium dioxide powder and the weatherability which is less deteriorated is obtd.
