PURPOSE:To realize a code system without requiring any high-level printing technique by dividing a circular, rectangular, or triangular figure into plural parts and coloring the divided parts in color distinctively from adjacent parts. CONSTITUTION:The circular, rectangular, or triangular figure is divided into plural parts, which are colored distinctively from adjacent parts to provide a code formed using a difference in color; and a sensor which detects the difference in color of the code and a decision circuit which reads the meaning of said code from the output signal of the sensor are provided. Consequently, the code is formed of the color provided to the divided part and any fine part is no required at all, so there is no speciality required in the printing technique and the code is easily formed.
