PURPOSE:To produce the title material having mechanical strength and excellent oxygen permeability at a low cost and with good workability by adding >=30% of isopropyl-t-butyl fumarate and cyclohexyl-t-butyl fumarate to 100% fumaric ester. CONSTITUTION:The contact lens material is formed from a coplymer of a monomer mixture obtained by adding >=30mol. parts of isopropyl-t-butyl fumarate and/or cyclohexyl-t-butyl fumarate to the 100mol. parts of the total fumaric ester. By this method, the contact lens material having excellent oxygen permeability and appropriate mechanical strength and without causing cornea metabolic disorder can be produced at a low cost and with good workability.
