PURPOSE:To obtain a uniformly ground surface, in the grinding of a gently curved surface, by coupling a grindstone holder and its support member with at least two pieces of tension members disposed horizontally with reference to the ground surface and providing a push mechanism for the support member. CONSTITUTION:A grindstone holder 3 pushed by a support member 4 through a bearing 20 is coupled with an tension member holder 12 jointed to a link ball 13 cooperating with the support member 4 through two pieces of tension members 11. If a predetermined load is applied to the grindstone holder 3, the tension members 11 are stretched to form an arc shape. By virtue of the link ball 13, the grindstone holder 3 is held horizontally, and therefore the grindstone 2 is automatically tilted tangentially with the surface of a work to be ground 1, not withstanding change in the curvature of the work 1, becoming smaller in size of projections on the surface, or wearing off of the grindstone, and thus uniform grinding with constant load applied to the work is achieved. |
