PURPOSE:To make favorable accelerability securable even at time of highland travel by installing a lockup releasing device which forcibly releases a lockup clutch at a time when a fact that a running ground is of highland is detected by a highland travel detecting device. CONSTITUTION:At time of highland travel, a lockup clutch A is always released by a lockup releasing device E. In consequence, torque increment action of a torque converter is surely securable. And, owing to the torque increment action, power shortage of an engine attributable to a drop in atmospheric pressure is replenished, thus the required driving force or accelerability comes to be secured.
