PURPOSE:To enable to produce an inorganic formed product having hollow inside and dense surface, by blending carbon based fiber in an inorganic raw material mainly containing a natural glassy mineral and baking and foaming the blend. CONSTITUTION:An inorganic blend raw material mainly containing a natural glassy mineral such a silas fine powder is charged into a baking and foaming mold. Then carbon fiber and/or aramid fiber, etc., is charged into the baking and foaming mold. The baking and foaming mold is put in a baking oven and the inorganic raw material is baked and foamed. At this time, since the carbon fiber has large contact area with the natural glassy mold, the inorganic formed product having the desired foam ratio is obtained without leaving a part not gasified. The surface of the foamed product becomes dense, because the foaming occurs only inside and the surface is not foamed. The above-mentioned method is suitable in production of an incombustible lightweight product such as incombustible building or incombustible hot insulating cylinder.
