PURPOSE:To shorten the prescribed time for adjusting a registration by sequentially changing centering control data for every prescribed time and calculating the error of respective blocks from respective data at the time of the inversion of the polarity of a registration error. CONSTITUTION:A deflecting control data generating means 91 generates the centering control data and outputs to and changes the control data for every prescribed time. A registration error polarity detecting means 94 detects the change of the polarity of the registration error in the respective blocks at the time of changing the control data. In a memory 58, the control data at that time is written in an address corresponding to the block from which this change is detected. All block polarity detecting means 95 detects that the polarity of the registration error in all the blocks is changed and controls the change of the control data. An arithmetic means 96 calculates the registration error in the respective blocks from the data written in the memory 58 to control a deflecting circuit 20 based on the result.
