PURPOSE:To increase hydrocracking activity of heavy hydrocarbon oil by mixing the powder of carbonous substance having specified mean primary particle size and a soln. of specified molybdenum compd. in a polar oxygen-contg. solvent to the heavy hydrocarbon oil. CONSTITUTION:A suspension of an additive for hydrocracking is obtd. by mixing the powder of carbonous substance having 1-200nm mean primary particle size, and the soln. of one or more kinds of molybdenum compd. selected from heteropoly acid contg. molybdenum atom. and its transition metal salts in a polar oxygen-contg. solvent with the hydrocarbon oil. The additive is introduced from a pipe 1 and heavy hydrocarbon oil from a pipe 2, and then they are mixed well in an area 3 for prepg. raw material oil. The mixed oil introduced from a pipe 4 is further mixed with pressurized hydrogen introduced from a pipe 5 and supplied to a hydrocracking area 6.
